Profile
Jack O'Keefe has shined the last two seasons at both Douglas and Cardinal Gibbons, collecting 174 total tackles, 11.5 TFL, 5 sacks & 3 blocked kicks. While he shines on the gridiron, O'Keeffe also maintains a 3.7 GPA and is a district champion wrestler at the 220lb weight class. In 2019, he collected 1st team All-State honors as part of one of the top LB duos in the State of Florida.
O'Keeffe on film showcases all the traits of a modern linebacker. There are very few defensive prospects that show so much ability at multiple positions in the front 7 like O'Keefe. At MLB, he can play gap sound ball or flow like a bat out of hell, flying sideline to sideline. He can rush the passer at DE, OLB or MLB. While not your typical old school linebacker with explosive tacking, he is more of a wrap and roll LB - which allows for less missed tackles. Coaches who have gone against O'Keeffe rave that over the past two years, he was easily the best linebacker they had schemed against.
This is a prospect that really has no weaknesses in his game. He passes the eye test with a strong 6'2 210lb frame that can easily add 20-30 pounds of solid mass. He has the speed to be successful on the Power 5 level, whether that’s screaming down on kickoffs, catching running backs on stretch plays, or chasing QBs on scrambles. He is disciplined in open-field situations, breaking down and closing space against elite South Florida athletes. He shows up in big-time games, with the 2019 matchup against 8A Miami Palmetto sticking out the most. He put up 14 tackles, 3 TFLs, and a sack, as Gibbons defeated the State Championship contenders 23-21.
