Profile

Deion Small is truly one of the most explosive offensive playmakers in South Florida, yet one of the most underrated. He has produced just as well (or better) than some of the most sought after prospects nationally, producing an eye-popping 1043 total yards and 8 touchdowns on just 75 offensive touches. His big-play ability can't even be understood by the five 40+ yard touchdowns he produced in just 2019. Small had several other touches that went for huge gains and were near scores.

Small is undersized, there is no denying that, but it is criminal how underrecruited he is. He produces whether he is a slot or RB. His game-breaking ability is showcased on every touch. There were several touches against powerhouse South Florida opponents that he broke 5+ tackles on one play. His open-field suddenness is comparable to some of the best Broward has seen. Small's game is reminiscent of American Heritage Plantation, Georgia Bulldog, and current NFL WR Isaiah McKenzie. Small is untouchable for the first tackler and it often requires a gang of defenders to get him down.

The modern game allows Small to thrive. He brings speed, agility, and quickness in the screen game, the intermediate passing scheme, and as a change of pace RB that threatens as a receiver out of the backfield. He's the swiss army knife every offensive coordinator would love to weaponize. Small has route running ability that will allow him to translate to the next level and he doesn't strictly rely on being just a better athlete. He catches the ball away from his body and has an extensive route tree that will allow for quick integration of an offensive scheme. If coaches cut the tape on, size won't matter here.
